What special precautions should I follow?

Before taking Darifencacin:

Do not take darifencacin (darifenacin) if you have a blockage of the urinary tract, difficulty urinating, urinary retention, a blockage in the intestines or gastric retention, or glaucoma.

Tell your doctor if you have liver disease, constipation, other stomach or intestinal problems, or kidney disease. You may not be able to take darifencacin (darifenacin), or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring if you have any of the conditions listed above.

Moreover, please inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: ketoconazole (Nizoral®), itraconazole (Sporanox®), or voriconazole (Vfend®); atazanavir (Reyataz®), nelfinavir (Viracept®), indinavir (Crixivan®), saquinavir (Fortovase®, Invirase®), or ritonavir (Norvir®); clarithromycin (Biaxin®); flecainide (Tambocor®); thioridazine (Mellaril®); a tricyclic antidepressants including desipramine (Norpramin®), amitriptyline (Elavil®), imipramine (Tofranil®), protriptyline (Vivactil®) and others; digoxin (Lanoxin®); or nefazodone (Serzone®). You may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you are taking any of the medicines listed above.

Many drugs other than those listed here may also interact with darifencacin (darifenacin). Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines including vitamins, minerals, and herbal products.

Darifencacin is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether darifencacin will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take darifencacin without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.

Furthermore, it is not known whether darifencacin (darifenacin) will harm a nursing infant. Do not take darifencacin without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Use cautiously when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Darifencacin may cause blurred vision.

Avoid becoming overheated in hot weather. Darifencacin (darifenacin) may increase the risk of heat stroke because it may decrease sweating. Try to drink plenty of fluid to maintain adequate hydration.
